The American University of Beirut (AUB), in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, offers Mastercard Foundation Scholar Program scholarships for graduate education.The American University of Beirut is a private, non-sectarian and independent university founded in New York with its campus in Beirut, Lebanon.The university is governed by a private, autonomous board of trustees and offers programs leading to bachelor’s, master’s, MD and Ph.D. to lead. The American University of Beirut’s Graduate Public Health Program is the first CEPH-accredited public health program outside of the North American continent and the only CEPH-accredited public health program in the Arab world, Asia and Africa.The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) approved the AUB’s Rafic Hariri School of Nursing BSN and MSN programs on October 13, 2007. Accreditation was reconfirmed in 2012.In April 2009, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business accredited the Suliman S. Olayan School of Business (OSB). The accreditation was reconfirmed in 2014.In addition, AACSB is the leading international accrediting agency for undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees in business administration and accounting.Less than five percent of business schools worldwide have achieved accreditation from AACSB International. The American University of Beirut offers 141 undergraduate/graduate programs and 36 certificates and diplomas.In 2007, the university introduced Ph.D. programs. The American University of Beirut also includes dozens of research centers and institutes that sponsor and promote research in a variety of fields.The American University of Beirut has been publishing since it started as a Syrian Protestant College (SPC). The earliest publication in AUB’s Nami Jafet Memorial Library was published in 1881; a study in Arabic on disease management, written by Dr. John Wortabet, Professor of Anatomy and Physiology at the Medical School of the Syrian Protestant College.
