When To Apply

The Loran Scholarship application opens on September 15th and closes on November 1st. All applications must be submitted online before the deadline. It is important to make sure that you give yourself enough time to complete your application before the deadline so that your application is given proper consideration. You should also be sure to double-check all information and materials you submit, as any mistakes or omissions may disqualify your application.

Applicants must also meet certain eligibility requirements, such as Canadian citizenship or permanent residency, and academic standing. For full details on the eligibility criteria, please refer to the Loran Scholarship website.

Once you have completed your online application, you will need to mail in two hard copies of your application package which includes an essay and reference letters. Your application package should be postmarked no later than November 15th.

The selection process for the Loran Scholarship begins with an initial evaluation of applicants’ applications. Following this, semi-finalists will be invited to a regional interview. The final selection of recipients will be made by the Loran Scholarship National Selection Committee in February.

What is The Selection Process

The selection process for the Loran Scholarship involves two main steps: the written application and the interview.

First, applicants must complete a written application that includes basic information about the applicant such as their academic and extracurricular accomplishments, volunteer experience, financial need, and community engagement.

In addition, applicants must also submit a list of references and a personal essay. The essay should address why you are a good candidate for the Loran Scholarship and how you will use the opportunity to make a positive impact in the world.

Once applications have been reviewed, a selection committee composed of alumni and other volunteers, including current scholars, will select the semi-finalists. Semi-finalists will be invited to participate in an interview either in person or over the phone. This interview is an opportunity to showcase your strengths, character, and commitment to serving others.

After the interviews, finalists will be chosen and receive official notification of their award. The final selection process is based on academic excellence, leadership potential, and commitment to service.
